Privacy Awareness Month presentation announcement

  • You may have already seen the announcements sent to the D-list and GVSE.
  • Gary Scott will be giving a presentation called “Email is Not Secure.”
  • Sam Horowitz will give a privacy checkup.
  • Jennifer Lofthus, UCSB's Policy Coordinator and Privacy Officer, will give an update on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance and how it affects the University of California.

  • Ryan Vizena mentioned that Humanities & Fine Arts launched https://www.hfa.ucsb.edu developed locally by Oniracom using Squarespace.

Siteimprove (accessibility checker) update from Kate Lucero, Adaptive Technology Specialist

  • Overview
    • Reports: Broken Links, Misspellings, Readability Issues
    • Collects a full content inventory containing pages, documents, media files, email addresses, and more.
    • Allows you to create custom rules to enforce across the websites (e.g. no media files larger than 1MB, search all links for “click here”, etc.)
    • Reports against WCAG 2.0 issues that can be detected with an automated checker.
    • Looks for duplicate meta tags, page load issues, and more.
    • Allows you to prioritize your work across the various tools with the use of Analytics data. Pages with Accessibility issues will be sorted based on page views so you can fix the most important ones first.
    • Scans internal PDFs for Broken Links and basic Accessibility issues
    • SSO Configuration – In progress
    • SiteImprove can set up CMS Deeplinking for Drupal integration on site-by-site basis (UCSF will do Drupal integration and provide notes to others)
  • Implementation Timeline
    • Phase 1 Onboarding (Office of President, UCB, UCSD, UCLA, ANR)
      • Admin Training: Feb 22 & Feb 23
      • User Training: Mar 9
    • Phase 2 Onboarding (UCSB, all other campuses)
      • Admin Training: April TBA
      • User Training: April TBA
    • Online Training series in development
      • Potential May release
      • SiteImprove will host, more details as they become available
