EndNote X5 for Windows

Thomson has released the new version of Endnote for Windows. Version X5 is now available in the COSL/Software Depot online order system.

The media for this new version has not been received yet, but will be available soon. 
The Macintosh version has not been released yet, but is expected to be released by the end of the year. An announcement will be posted here when the Macintosh version is available.

UCCSC 2011 Website is live!

Greetings UCCSC community,

The website for UCCSC 2011 is operational, and you can visit us at

You currently will be able to set up a log-in for the website, which will allow you to submit a proposal for the conference.

Once registration is finalized, I will be sending out an announcement to this list.  You can then visit the site with your log-in credentials, and register to attend.

UCCSC 2011 - UC Merced - August 8-9

Hello UCCSC community,

It is my pleasure to announce UCCSC 2011, hosted at UC Merced! The conference will be held August 8-9 on our campus, and if you would like to arrive early on Sunday, August 7th and explore our town, we will be able to assist with early check-in.

We look forward to seeing you all join us on campus in-person and plan to capture as much video and audio as we can for presentations for viewing after the conference ends. We have no plans for remote streaming at this time.

2011 Sautter Award Program Open for Applications

Applications for the 2011 Sautter Award Program, sponsored by the UC Information Technology Leadership Council, are now being accepted. The application deadline is May 20, 2011. Submission guidelines, including the award criteria, are available in the 2011 Sautter Award Program Announcement.

BUS-80: Insurance Programs for IT Systems

The University of California has purchased an insurance policy to help defray the costs associated with incidents where the security of an information system has been breached.  To be covered by this new policy, specific security requirements must be met before and at the time of the breach.  

Core Router Upgrade Status

It has been a while since I've provided an update on the core router upgrade project, so here's the latest information.  Five of six routers have been replaced, with the remaining router likely to be replaced some early morning during the week of January 17th. The most challenging replacement thus far was in Engineering I, which took many hours and was a complete rip-and-replace project; many thanks to those who helped make it a success!
