UCSB Identity Services Updated

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

In mid-August the Office of Information Systems & Technology released the next generation of the Campus Identity and Access Management Service. The UCSB Identity Service provides for the management of UCSBnetID sign-in for electronic services across campus, such as UCSB Wireless Internet, Software Depot, and many others.

With this week's rollout a number of UCSBnetID-related business processes have changed:

  • UCSBnetID Activation for Employees: new employees may now create a UCSBnetID by visiting the "UCSB Identity Manager" at https://secure.identity.ucsb.edu/manager/. An employee must first be entered into the Payroll Personnel System at least one business day beforehand. This service replaces the U-Reset Token system previously in use.
  • UCSBnetID Activation for Students: student UCSBnetID management will now use the "UCSB Identity Manager" rather than the former U-Mail process for UCSBnetID management. Students will continue to have to activate their U-Mail account at http://www.umail.ucsb.edu/.
  • UCSBnetID Password Reset: lost or forgotten UCSBnetID or Passwords may be reset using the "UCSB Identity Manager" using the above link.
  • UCSB Directory Search: the online directory search service at directory.ucsb.edu has been retired and replaced with a new "People Finder" service available at http://www.identity.ucsb.edu/people_finder/.

The complete details of these new processes and services are available at: http://www.identity.ucsb.edu/customers/whats_new/. If you have any question about these new services or related business processes, let us know by sending a note to our helpdesk: http://www.identity.ucsb.edu/customers/help/.
