You can use lynda.com online training for professional development, and also for personal enrichment outside of work. As long as you have a UCSBNetID and are a UCSB employee, you can log in to lynda.com on or off campus.
Note for non-exempt employees: Time spent on lynda.com training for personal enrichment will not be considered time worked. As with all training opportunities, if you need to take lynda.com training for your job, please work with your supervisor in advance to schedule the coursework and to request that course time be approved as work time.

A wonderful introduction to making sites using content management systems [CMS]. Using WordPress.com as its platform the course describes and shows the process of making a web presence without downloading any software or costs. Although, the course shows how to create posts, the focus is on how to setup and create of a site right away.
On January 16, 2013, Human Resources announced that UCSB has obtained a campus subscription to lynda.com for all UCSB faculty, staff and student employees. Lynda.com is an on-demand resource featuring an online training library of courses that helps users learn software, design, and business skills to achieve their personal and professional goals.
