Color should not be used as the only visual means for conveying information

We all love a beautifully branded, colorful document. But here is the rule: color is not used as the only visual means of conveying information, indicating an action, prompting a response, or distinguishing a visual element. If you highlight required form fields only in red, or use only a green line on a chart to show profits, someone who is colorblind might completely miss that critical information. Always pair your color coding with another visual cue. You can ensure that additional visual cues are available when text color differences are used to convey information.
