Host: Welcome to The Accessibility Minute! I am your host, Alx Sanchez, and today we are building better documents.
Put down the magnifying glass and stop squinting at your screen, because today we are blowing things up—literally! Under WCAG Success Criterion 1.4.4, your text must be able to be resizeable up to 200 percent without assistive technology and without losing any content or functionality. If you are coding HTML, your design must be responsive! If you lock text into rigid, fixed-width boxes, you risk a massive WCAG failure where zooming causes your text to get clipped, truncated, or completely squished out of existence. Use liquid layouts so your text can breathe!
But what about PDFs, Microsoft Word, and Google Docs? Great news! You get a free pass to rely on the software's built-in zoom magnifier, which is officially approved under Technique G142. Just one rule: use real text! If you paste an image of text into your document, you'll fail Success Criterion 1.4.5 because it turns into a blurry, pixelated potato the second someone zooms in. Keep it real, and let it grow!
