Host: Welcome to The Accessibility Minute! I am your host, Alx Sanchez, and today we are building better documents.
Ever hear a screen reader pronounce Spanish with a robotic English accent? It sounds like a confused tourist ordering a 'kway-so-dill-ah.'To fix this, WCAG requires that your document's default language be determined programmatically. You must set this in your HTML, PDF, Word, or Google Doc settings! But wait—what if you drop a sudden 'c'est la vie' into your English text? WCAG says you must tag mid-sentence language shifts, too! You can easily do this using inline tags in HTML, PDFs, and Microsoft Word. But here is the plot twist: Google Docs currently cannot tag mid-sentence language changes! Choose your tools wisely, accessibility enthusiasts!
