Smartphones are the easiest and most popular method of enrolling in Duo. A push notification is a pop-up sent from an app that you "push" from your phone or another smart device when you authenticate with Duo. Authenticating with your smart device is quick and works with or without a WiFi or SMS connection.

If you do not have a smartphone or do not wish to use the Duo Mobile app, you can authenticate using a hard token
A hard token is a keychain device that generates a passcode that you enter when you are authenticating with Duo. It does not require an internet or phone connection.
