Beginning on October 31, ITS will implement changes in Identity and Connect as a result of new deprovisioning requirements for Google Accounts.
Please be advised of the following changes:
- Grace Period for Separated Employees: After faculty or staff are separated in UCPath, their account will remain active in UCSB Identity for a seven-day grace period. This may be extended when necessary on a case-by-case basis.
- Deactivation and Loss of Google Account Access: Users will immediately lose access to Google Workspace upon their deactivation in Identity after the seven-day grace period. Please ensure that any important data or files are backed up before deactivation.
- Password Reset for Reactivated Users: Users who are reactivated in Identity will be required to set a new password.
These changes to our user deprovisioning process will address growing Google Storage limitations and ensure the continued security and efficiency of our services. We will continue to monitor Google Storage usage and implement additional changes as needed.
For more information, please visit the Google Storage Project webpage for updates and review the Google Storage FAQs. If you have additional questions or concerns, please submit a ServiceNow ticket.
