We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to provide an update on the implementation of Access Mobile ID for the incoming Freshmen class in Fall 2023.
After an intensive 6+ months of collaborative efforts with our vendor, Transact Campus, and all UCSB Access partners, it is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that we have encountered several technical challenges that make it unfeasible to roll out Access Mobile ID in time for the Fall 2023 quarter.
While the journey has been a valuable one, we are committed to forging ahead and working closely with your team to ensure that the final solution is fully production-ready. We appreciate your ongoing support and dedication to this project.
For the Freshman Summer Start Program (FSSP) students, we will have:
- New Access Cards: New Access Cards are currently being printed and will be ready for distribution during the fall 2023 move-in weekend. These cards will serve as substitutes for the Access Mobile ID setup for your Summer Session B.
For all other Freshmen, we have a plan in place:
- Online Photo Submissions: We will continue to collect online photo submissions through Access Mobile ID for all remaining Freshmen.
- Access Card Distribution: New Access Cards will be made available at the time of student move-in. Our combined Access and HDAE staff will distribute these cards at the student’s assigned Residence Hall.
We want to express our sincere gratitude for your unwavering support and enthusiasm throughout this transition period. While the implementation for Fall 2023 has faced delays, we are determined to have Access Mobile ID fully operational and ready for use by Fall 2024.
