We are writing to inform you of an upcoming change to multi-factor authentication (MFA) with Duo. Starting in September 2024, UCSB will transition from the traditional Duo prompt to the new Universal Duo Prompt, providing a new look and feel and enhanced user experience.
While the core functionality of Duo will remain the same, the Universal Duo Prompt introduces updates for a more streamlined and secure authentication process:
- Simplified Authentication: The first time you log in after the upgrade, Duo will automatically select the most secure authentication method available to you (i.e. Push notification, SMS code). This eliminates the need to manually choose from a list of options.
- Flexibility: If the automatically selected method doesn't suit your preference, you can easily change it by clicking "Other Options" and selecting a different authentication method.
- Remembered Preferences: Duo will remember your chosen authentication method and automatically use it for future logins on the same platform and browser.
